What is new in CollageThing 1.1
Photos that overlap, three new decorations, a redo button, and an editor that keeps up with you. Here is everything in the 1.1 update.
Version 1.1 is out. The headline is overlapping photos, which changes what a collage can look like, but the update is really about a lot of small things adding up: more to decorate with, a redo button, and an editor that keeps up with you.
Photos can overlap now
Until now, the gap slider only pushed your photos apart. Drag it below zero and they move the other way, sliding over each other and stacking up.
It is a small change with a big effect. Instead of a tidy grid, you get layered photos with edges tucked behind one another, closer to a pile of prints on a table than a page in an album. Nudge it a little for a subtle overlap, or push it further for a proper stack.
Three new decorations
Confetti scatters across your collage, and you pick the colors yourself. Match them to your photos, keep to two or three shades for something restrained, or turn it all the way up.
Fairy lights string across the frame, which does a lot for evening and winter photos without covering anything up.
A bow for when a collage is a gift, or when it just needs a finishing touch in one corner.
Five more doodles, and a loose photo element
There are five new doodles in the elements picker to draw attention to a face or fill a quiet corner.
There is also a plain photo element you can drop anywhere on the canvas. It sits outside the layout entirely, so you can add a photo that is not part of the grid: one more picture tucked into a corner, or a small photo layered over a big one.
Redo
Undo now has a partner. If you undo one step too many, redo steps forward again, so trying something out no longer costs you the thing you already liked.
Long-press to move a photo
Press and hold a photo, then drag it where you want it. Moving photos between slots used to take more thought than it should have; now it is one gesture.
Two free background textures
Two of the background textures that used to be part of Unlock Everything are now free for everyone, so there is more to work with before you decide whether to buy.
Faster and steadier
Previews render noticeably quicker, dragging and resizing feel smoother, and a batch of bugs from the first release are fixed. Nothing you have to learn, but the editor should simply feel better to use.
